William F. "Bill" Wilcox

William F. Wilcox, “Willy/Bill” 88, a resident of West Arlington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. Born in West Arlington on April 9, 1931, Bill is the son of the late Cecil and Rose Wilcox. He received his education in Arlington schools. Bill is a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, Bill was a longtime butcher and was a lifetime member of both the American Legion Post 69 in Arlington and the VFW Post 6471 in Manchester. Bill married Lillian C. Mayer on June 19, 1982. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. Most of all, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family. Bill is survived by his wife, Lillian Wilcox; his children, Cindy (Raymond) Cox and Gary (Tina) Wilcox of New Mexico; Cathy (Michael) Roach of Maryland and stepson, Gerald (Colleen) Mayer of Shaftsbury. Grandchildren, Ashley Wilcox and Scott Cornelius of New Mexico; Ashley (Joe) Martin of Bennington and Jaime Cummings-Mayer of Shaftsbury. Great grandchildren, Cole and Gaige Cummings-Mayer; brother, Paul (Ellen) Wilcox of Manchester; sisters Mildred Neron of South Dakota and Betsy Perrott of New York; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Rose Wilcox; two grandsons, Gerald Mayer II and Travis Cornelius; brother, Stuart “Stubby” Wilcox and Stuart’s wife Pat. Funeral services for Bill will be held on September 14th at the family plot in the West Arlington Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
