Alfred P. Drasheff

May 28, 1930 — August 12, 2022

Alfred P. Drasheff, 92, a resident of Manchester Center, passed away August 12, 2022. Alfred was born in Jersey City, NJ on May 28, 1930, the son of the late Kyril Drasheff and his wife Helene (nee Von Grumbkow). Al began his career working as a design draftsman for the Keuffel & Esser Company where he met his future wife Eleanor (nee Rieken). They were together for 63 happy years. After leaving Keuffel & Esser, Al worked for IT&T in Nutley, NJ for 40 years before retiring from a management position. One of the highlights of his employment with IT&T was time spent living and working on Kauai, Hawaii where he supervised a project for the Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands, a U.S. Naval Facility. His wife Eleanor and his two young daughters were able to join him on Kauai where their family adventures on the island created many cherished memories. After retirement, Al & Eleanor moved from their long-time residence in New Jersey to Vermont. They loved their new home and always admired the natural beauty of the Manchester area. In his younger years, Al was an avid hiker and could often be found walking the trails in Harriman State Park, the Catskills and the Adirondacks. He always had an interest in topo maps and astronomy and any activity that would keep his mind razor sharp. He also enjoyed traveling with Eleanor and visiting some of the National Parks in the United States and Canada. In his later years, he would often say how much he relished being at home delighting in his view of the mountains, misted in fog in the early morning hours and glowing with evening light at dusk. Most of all, Al was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His greatest joys were savoring the delicious meals prepared by his wife and daughters and sharing activities with his granddaughters whether it be challenging them at a boardgame or taking them for a hike and sharing a love of nature. As his granddaughters grew to adulthood, Al took deep pride in their achievements and the lives they created for themselves. Lastly, Al had a keen wit and will be missed by those who knew him. He will live on in our hearts forever. Alfred is predeceased by four brothers and a sister and his loving wife Eleanor. He is survived by his daughters, Judy Paris and her husband Adrian of Manchester Center, VT and Diane Jajko and her husband Ronald of Wayne, NJ; his grandchildren, Alana Jajko and her husband Shane Kiefer of Lewisburg, PA and Kristen Jajko of Wayne, NJ and many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him greatly. Arrangements will be announced at a later date. To send the family condolences please visit www.sheafuneralhomes.com.
