Alfred "Freddie" Medeiros, 86 a resident of Canal Drive in Readsboro passed away Monday March 9, 2015 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. The son of Manuel and Maria (Valero) Medeiros, he was born in Fall River, MA on January 29, 1929. He grew up in Fall River where he graduated high school, following high school he entered the US Army where he served during the Korean War. He married the former Dorothy Nicolan in Fall River on June 27, 1953. For many years he had worked for the Fall River Water Department, he and his wife moved to Vermont 15 years ago to be nearer their family. Freddie had been a member of the American Legion and communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He was raised on a farm and as a farmer at heart he loved gardening at his home, he also enjoyed keeping up his car and traveling with Dot. He became a regular at the Senior Meals in Jacksonville and enjoyed getting together with the friends he had made there. Most of all Freddie loved to spend time with his grandchildren, attending their events, teaching them to fish or just playing with them.He leaves his wife Dorothy Medeiros, daughter and son in law Donna and Robert Lambert of Whitingham, grandsons Colby and Jared Lambert of Whitingham, brother Thomas Jacome of Fall River , sister Julie Curry of Fall River, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers Manuel, Antone, Joseph and John Medeiros.The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 14 at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 11am, burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call at the Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home , 44 East Main Street, Wilmington on Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30am.
