Alma Estella Baker, age 99, passed away on March 24, 2017 at SVMC in Bennington, VT. She was born in West Pawlet, VT on the farm on July 11, 1917 along with her twin sister Alta Aldrich who passed away December 19, 1994, daughters of Eugene & Ethel (Nelson) Barden. She attended school in West Pawlet and Granville, NY high school. She worked for private families as a cook and a housekeeper. She married Elias Aaron (Ted) Baker on January 25, 1941 in Dorset, VT. She loved cross country skiing, riding her bicycle, laying in the sun and going for long walks with her many dogs throughout her life. She played the violin, piano and keyboard. She would. sing and Alta (her twin) would dance. How they loved to entertain us. She also loved to spend time with her family. She was known as "Ma Baker" around Dorset. She leaves her three children, Timothy Baker (Mary) from Dorset, VT and Port Orange, FL, Carol Hoard and partner Ron Slade, Sr. from Dorset, VT and Bonnie Bruce (Ronnie) from Dorset, VT. She leaves eight grandchildren. Vickie Haskins (Pete) from Dorset, VT, Kellie Waite from Pawlet, VT, Dale Baker (Sherri) from Wells, VT, Kim Hoard Cook (Sam) from Dorset, VT and Raymond Hoard (Kelly) from Hartford, NY, Lance Hoard (Colleen)from Benson, VT, Megen Niquette (Ben) from Manchester, VT and Tamara Bruce from Dorset, VT. She leaves fifteen great grandchildren, Nicholette, Alydia, Nicholas, Zachary, Emily, Lillian, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Alexis, Tegan, Blake, Blaine, Mazie, Lane and Cannon. She leaves three great great grandchildren, Gatland, Rolan, Jesse, many nieces and nephews and a special cousin Natalie Buck from Rupert, VT. Predeceased by her parents, husband, sisters Beryl Towslee & Janice Guibord twin sister Alta Aldrich and brother Meritt (Clyde) Barden. On July 11, 2017 (which would have been Ma's 100th birthday) we will be having funeral services at the Dorset Church and committal services at the Dorset cemetery. Immediately following will be a celebration of her life at the Dorset RV Park. Arrangement times will be posted at a further date.
