Ann Marie Harrington Crosier

Ann Marie Harrington Crosier, born on May 2, 1932, in North Bennington, VT, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2024. She lived a life of devotion to her family and her community, West Springfield, MA.

Daughter of Walton and Nellie Harrington. Ann graduated from North Bennington High School in 1950 and furthered her education at Springfield Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse in 1953. On June 15, 1954, she married the love of her life, Carlton David Crosier, and together they built a family with their two children, Donna C. Nicolai and Douglas D. Crosier. Ann is survived by her children, daughter-in-law, Julie Crosier, and her four grandchildren, Emily, Jesse, Sarah, and Lauren.

Ann had a long and fulfilling career as a nurse at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA where she dedicated many years to the outpatient clinic before retiring in June 1992. Her commitment to her profession and her patients defined her career.

In addition to her professional achievements, Ann was an active member of her community, serving as a town meeting member for many years. She upheld and advocated for her love of reading by serving on the West Springfield Library Board of Trustees for a dedicated 17 years, several as Chairman of the Board.

Together with her husband, Ann was a devout member of the Mittineague Congregational Church and the West Springfield Parish Association. She was also active in various community services, including the recreation commission for Operation Santa. Recognized for their contribution to community and dedication to service, Ann and her husband, David, were honored with the Paul Harris award by the West Springfield Rotary Club and a Citizenship Award from the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee.

Her passion for history was evident through her involvement with the Ramapogue Historical Association, where she served as President. In recognition of her contributions, the new library's reading room was named the Ann Crosier Reading Room in the Carnegie Wing, a testament to her lasting legacy.

Ann will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the love she shared with her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of service, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to making the future world a better place.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
