Anthony John Evans, 85, a resident of Middle road, passed away March 28, 2016 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Anthony was born in London, England on January 1, 1931 the son of the late Harry and Annie Jane (Thomas) Evans and attended London schools. Anthony was a member of the British Army Regiment and received his training in Germany as a parachutist and rifleman. He completed his masonry apprenticeship in London, England and worked as a mason in the construction industry for many years. In later years he owned and operated the Snowbound Motel in Manchester. Anthony loved to read and was a great craftsman. He was very involved in the Cub Scouts with his sons and nephews, loved the ocean and all kinds of music. Anthony cherished times spent with his family especially around holidays. He was a great provider and went without so his family could have more. Anthony was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Christ Our Savior Parish (St. Paul's Catholic Church) in Manchester and the Local Union #1 of the Bricklayers and and Allied Craft Workers. Anthony is survived by his wife the former Pierette Panzari of Manchester Center whom he married in London on March 22, 1952, son Steve Anthony John Evans and his wife Trish of Manchester, daughters Linda Evans Sargent and her partner Tom Oulette of Manchester and Janet Evans Benson and her husband John also of Manchester, grandchildren Michelle and her husband Scott, John and his wife Sadie, Jimmy, Michael, Deidre, Nikki, Breeanna and Tyler, great grandchildren Chris, Billy, Cameron, Garth, Ashley, Taylor, Charleigh and Alex, great-great grandchildren Destiny and Gabriel, Nephews Danny and Bobby and niece Debbie and their spouses. He was preceded in death by his son Christopher John Evans, brother Harry and sisters Margie and Norma. A Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated Friday morning April, 1, 2016 at 11am at Christ Our Savior Parish (St. Paul's Catholic Church) in Manchester. Interment will follow in the family lot in Factory Point Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at Brewster & Shea Funeral Service Thursday evening March 31, 2016 from 5-7pm when the family will be in attendance. A Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated Friday morning April, 1, 2016 at 11am at Christ Our Savior Parish (St. Paul's Catholic Church) in Manchester. Interment will follow in the family lot in Factory Point Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at Brewster & Shea Funeral Service Thursday evening March 31, 2016 from 5-7pm when the family will be in attendance.
