Arthur Edwin Crowe, Jr.98, a resident of North Street, and formerly of Claremont, New Hampshire, passed away Sunday May 1, 2016 at the Vermont Veterans Home. Arthur was born in Cranston, Rhode Island on September 29, 1917 the son of the late Arthur E. and Ethel (Doige) Crowe, Sr. and attended local schools. Arthur was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII where he served as a member of the 452nd Bomb Group. He was a tail gunner on a bomber and was shot down and held for eleven months as a P.O.W. Upon his honorable discharge, Arthur worked as a Mechanical Designer for Ortho Instrument and as a Tool Maker for Universal Winding Company Mechanical Design. Arthur is survived by his children Charlotte Stirewalt of Princeton, MA, Robert Crowe of Hudson, MA and George Crowe of Claremont, NH, brother Walter Crowe, grandchildren Jake and Brittany Crowe, Nicole Crowe, April Worden and Faith Crowe and great grandchildren Erik and Anneke. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen who died July 4, 2011 and his sister Mildred Williams. At the request of the family there are no formal funeral services. Interment will be private.
