Audrey Helen (Fienberg) Lachant, 93, a longtime resident of Jefferson Heights, and current resident of the Vermont Veteran's Home, passed away January 11, 2018 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Audrey was a lifelong resident of Bennington; she was born in Bennington on November 8, 1924, daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (Merson) Fienberg. She attended Bennington schools, graduating from Bennington High School in 1942. She attended Russell Sage College, graduating in 1946 with a Bachelor's degree in Business. Audrey and her late husband Joseph owned and operated the Fienberg Store in Bennington for many years. She was a former member of Temple Beth-El Woman's Hadassah, the Lioness Club and the Bennington Bowling League. She enjoyed playing bridge, writing stories for her grandchildren and traveling especially to Europe, the Caribbean and Mexico. Audrey is survived by her son Dr. Neil Lachant and his wife Mary of Cherry Hills, NJ and her son A. Michael Lachant and his wife Laurie of Bennington, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Lachant and her sister Rita Ebersman. Funeral services for Audrey will be held Monday January 15, 2018 at 11:30am at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT. Interment will follow in the Hebrew Cemetery in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. There are no calling hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Audrey's memory may be made to your local Humane Society, c/o Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 957 Bennington, VT 05201. Funeral services for Audrey will be held Monday January 15, 2018 at 11:30am at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT. Interment will follow in the Hebrew Cemetery in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. There are no calling hours.
