Mrs. Barbara M. Look, 91 a longtime resident of West Main Street passed away peacefully Wednesday January 13, 2016 at Pine Heights in Brattleboro. The daughter of Percey and Blanche (Jacobs) Haskins, she was born at home in Wilmington on May 18, 1924. Growing up in Wilmington she attended local schools, graduating from Wilmington High School in 1942. She married Fred look in Wilmington on May 23, 1945, he died January 28, 1996. Her first job was at the former Readsboro Chair Shop, she then was a secretary in the Guidance Department at both Wilmington and Whitingham High Schools from 1967-1970. In 1970, when the Deerfield Valley Elementary School opened, she began a long 30 year career there where she was extremely active with administrative duties and, more importantly, interacting with the children and their parents. On many occasions she was a substitute grandmother for the children and over the years she had a positive influence on hundreds of children, which she loved to teach and nurture. Mrs. Look wrote articles for the Brattleboro Reformer. She was chosen as "Citizen of The Year" in the year 2000 by the American Legion. She was a member of the Wilmington Historical Society, Ladies Aid at the Wilmington Baptist Church, Mothers Club, Home Dem Group and a Cub Scout Leader. She enjoyed bowling throughout her life both in the Youth league and Senior League. She liked going camping with her husband, Fred, attending the family reunions, completing crossword puzzles and collecting pictures. However she really enjoyed being with her grandchildren .She leaves her sons Richard and wife Terese Look of Raymond, NH, Jeffrey Look of Williamsville, when her son Daniel passed away unexpectedly in 1977, she raised his two daughters Carrie and Lisa as her own daughters, she referred to them as "Children Grand". She also leaves sisters Judith Looke of Manchester, CT , Jeanne Bliven of Ballston Spa, NY, brother William and wife Laura Haskins of Newton, MA, grandchildren Lisa and husband Derick Adams, Heather Look and companion Jared Green, Heather Look, Danielle Look, Douglas and wife Amanda Look and Allison Look-Tuttle and husband Kyle , great grandchildren Daniel Adams, Fallyn Adams, Briar Green, Kaden Green, Quentin Wilson, Jeffrey Hansen, Adeline Look and Mya Adler . In addition to her son, she was predeceased by brother Phillip Haskins, sisters Marion Bullett and Ann Levasseur. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 19 at 1:30 at the Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home with Reverend Douglas LaPlante, Pastor of the Wilmington Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home on Monday from 5-7pm when the family will be present. Memorial gifts may be made to the Wilmington Historical Society in care of Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, VT 05363 Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 19 at 1:30 at the Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the family lot in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home on Monday from 5-7pm when the family will be present.
