Barbara Mae Finlayson, 88, a resident of Fillmore Pond, passed away Saturday February 7, 2015 at her home. Barbara was born in Seattle, Washington on January 14, 1927 the daughter of the late Harry W. and Myrtle (Murphy) Dohm and attended local schools. Upon receiving her Masters Degree, Barbara worked as a Licensed Social Worker for United Counseling Services, Bennington College as the head of counseling services and the State of New York, Renssaelaer County. Barbara loved horseback riding. She loved her home, entertaining and having parties. She loved to shop and travel to Ireland. She liked horse jumping, equestrian events, ballet and listening to classical music. Barbara was a member of the AAUW. Barbara is survived by her step children Barbara Finlayson of Amherst, Massachusetts and Scott Finlayson and his wife Dee of St. Petersburg, Florida, her brother Robert Otto Dohm of Vashon Island, Washington, grandchildren Beth Seretta of Easthampton, Massachusetts, Ian Finlayson and his wife Caitie of Virginia, Jill Finlayson of St. Petersburg, Florida and Brie and her husband Dustin Holister of Tampa, Florida great grandchildren Ryan and Luke and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm Wendt Finlayson, MD whom she married in Seattle, Washington June, 1960. Dr. Finlayson passed away November 5, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a step-son Bruce Finlayson and brother Harry Dohm. Funeral Services for Barbara will be held Thursday February 12, 2015 at 12Noon at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Interment will be held in the family lot in Parklawn Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Barbara's memory may be made to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center or to the Charity of one's choice c/o Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 957 Bennington, Vermont 05201. Barbara's family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at Fillmore Pond for the wonderful care they gave to Barbara.
