Barbara Theresa Matteson, 84, a resident of the Fields, and formerly of Sunderland, passed away May 19, 2016 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Barbara was born in Springfield, MA on October 17, 1931 the daughter of the late Eli Newton and Elmire (Gendron) Squiers and attended local schools. Barbara worked as a molding operator for Arlington Industries and in her earlier years she worked for Mack Molding and the Harvest Inn. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Manchester and enjoyed bowling, crocheting, sewing, tag sales and cherished times spent with her family. Barbara is survived by her husband Paul Matteson of Manchester whom she married December 29, 1949 in Sunderland, sons Michael P. Matteson of Londonderry and Peter Joseph Matteson of Manchester, daughters Karen E. Wright of Arlington, Paula J. Matteson of Manchester and Theresa M. Matteson of Arlington, grandchildren Christopher, Annie, Ryan, Josh, Grady, Johnny and Faith, great grandchildren McKinley, Hadlianna, Rainer, Elias and Finn. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Fran, sisters, Rita, Margaret, and Ann, along with several nieces and nephews.Graveside funeral services for Barbara will be held Saturday May 28, 2016 at 10am in the family lot in Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland. There are no visiting hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Barbara's memory may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, c/o of Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home Arlington Chapel, P.O.
