Bernice Irene Bortell, (Aunt Bea)

Bernice Irene Bortell, (Aunt Bea), 60, a resident of Farley Road, passed away unexpectedly October 24, 2022 at Albany Medical Center. Bernice was born in Bennington on March 7, 1962 the daughter of the late Ralph Vernon and Emily Louise (Dawson) Dow. She attended Bennington schools, graduating from the girl’s program at Mt. Anthony Union High School. Bernice had many jobs in the community but her passion was being at home and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She loved to bake especially for anyone who stopped by her home or to give to her husband to take to the office. She loved bingo, riding motorcycles with her husband Tim and were members of many motorcycle clubs. She loved travelling to Florida, Maine and the ocean and enjoyed listening to music from classic rock to alternative. Bernice is survived by her husband Timothy J. Bortell of Bennington, her children Carmen Bortell (Joe Taylor), Dana Bortell (Tawnee) and Matthew Bortell (Katie Meehan) all of Bennington, grandchildren Emma, Alexander, Austin, Catalina, Brody, Storm, Amarah, Maddy and Matt, Jr., her great grandchild Gabriel and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sisters Nancy A. Greene and Bobbi Joe Dow. A time of visitation for Bernice will be held Wednesday November 2, 2022 from 2-5pm at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Mai Street Bennington, VT.
