Bertell B. Woods, 97 formerly of Wilmington passed away peacefully Tuesday March 17, 2015 in Bennington. She was born in Northfield, MA on October 1, 1917, the daughter of Archie and Mary (Leanard) Burnett. Bertell grew up in Halifax where she attended local schools and graduated from Greenfield (MA) High School in 1935. She married Ralph H. Woods Sr. in 1937, for many years they resided on Woods Road in Wilmington, they enjoyed 53 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1990.She had worked at the Grand Union and Wares Store, in Wilmington for many years. Following her retirement she wrote and published books with her sister Bernice and with the help of Lucie Sumner. She also wrote regular articles for the Cracker Barrel , a publication in the Deerfield Valley.Bertell enjoyed reading, genealogy, her home and family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves her daughter Norma Sprague of Bennington, son Ralph Woods Jr. of Eagle Bridge, NY, sister Bernice Barnett of West Halifax, brother Clayton Burnett of Keene, NH, many grandchildren, great grandchildren , nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter Annette Capen in 2007, son Ronald Woods in 2013 and son Roland in 1962. Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall in Brattleboro on March 28 at 1:30pm. Burial will be private in Riverview Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad in care of Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, VT 05363.
