Betty Georgia Gunther

May 31, 1936 — January 16, 2022

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Betty Georgia Gunther, formerly MacEachron, of Arlington, Vt. must announce that she passed away in her sleep on January 16, 2022 at the age of 85. Betty, the daughter of Edward and Marion MacEachron, was born on May 31, 1936 in Argyle, New York. She moved to Granville, New York at a young age and graduated from the Granville Public schools where she met her husband, John (Jack) Gunther. They married in 1958, were married for 63 years, and had four children. Betty and Jack are long time residents of East Arlington, Vt. and raised their family there. Betty was an aide at the both the Fisher Elementary and Manchester Elementary and Middle Schools and an active member of the Federated Church of East Arlington, where she taught Sunday School and participated on many committees. Throughout her life, Betty believed in volunteering and helping others. Over the years, she volunteered her time with too many organizations to list. Most recently, she was actively involved as a leader of Bone Builders and on the Board of the Arlington Food Shelf. Family was very important to Betty. After the passing of her brothers, Edward, Raymond and Robert and her sisters, Helen and Ruth, Betty stayed in touch with dozens of nieces and nephews as well as her extended family of cousins. More than anything, Betty loved her children and grandchildren and she was grateful that most of them lived close by. She is survived by her husband, Jack; her daughter Holli Gunther Roth and her husband, Alan Roth, her sons Gary Gunther and his wife, Donna McDonough Gunther, Gregg Gunther, and Glenn Gunther and her grandchildren John and his wife, Kira, Nathaniel, Zane, Colby, and Paige. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do something to help others or make a gift in her honor to the Arlington Food Shelf, c/o Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home Arlington Chapel P.O.
