Betty J. Hill, a resident of Barnumville Road, passed away May 3, 2017 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Betty was born in Bennington on July 7, 1931 the daughter of Vernon and Edna (Johnston) Perkins. She spent her early childhood in the little family house at 28 Palmer Place, Manchester. She attended school at the Old Manchester Elementary School on Main Street. Betty grew to adulthood at the home of her grandparents in Manchester Depot. After leaving school to care for her elderly grandmother, Betty spent her single life in Manchester along with many friends in the employment of local businesses, including the Colonial Theater and the Modern Theater as well as local inns including the Hillcrest and the Wilburton Inn. She was also employed at Manchester Wood Co. and Reed's Drug Store. In 1964 Betty met her husband Edgar F. Hill who predeceased her in 2005. A loving wife and mother, Betty is survived by her sons Arnold E. Hill and Daniel A. Hill of Orlando, FL and Wesley E. Hill of Manchester along with four grandchildren Daniel, Emily, Ashley and Alexander. Also two nieces Jackie Donnelly and Tonia Brooks of Bennington and a nephew Vernon O'Dell of Shaftsbury. She was preceded in death by her sister Verna J. Brooks who died in 2012. Graveside funeral services for Betty will be held Saturday May 13, 2017 at 10am at Factory Point Cemetery in Manchester. Visiting hours will beheld Friday May 12, 2017 from 5-7pm at Brewster-Shea Funeral Home 34 Park Place Manchester Center, VT. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Betty's memory may be made to the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation Patient Activities Fund, c/o Brewster-Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, VT 05255. Graveside funeral services for Betty will be held Saturday May 13, 2017 at 10am at Factory Point Cemetery in Manchester. Visiting hours will beheld Friday May 12, 2017 from 5-7pm at Brewster-Shea Funeral
