Betty W. Lackey 93 a lifelong resident of Bennington passed away peacefully at Rivers Edge Community Care Home on Sunday March 5, 2023. The eldest child of Arthur and Lillian (Stratton) Watson she was born in Bennington on March 20, 1929.
Betty grew up in Bennington where she attended local schools. She married Howard Lackey on June 28 1947 , they made their home on Division Street where they raised their three children.
Betty had worked at Bennington Potters , Hoy Manufacturing and retired from Stanley Tools.
Betty was a home body who enjoyed raising her children and caring for her grandchildren , she also enjoyed a good party, taking walks, visiting the ocean and sitting in the sun. In later years she spent her time with great grandchildren and working on word searches.
Betty was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Bennington where she often volunteered her time at the annual rummage sales.
She leaves her daughter Jane (Robert) Corriveau of Bennington, son Bruce Lackey of White Creek, NY , grandchildren Deanna Fritz, Joey Fritz, Amy Putnam, Erin Lackey, Adrienne Sherwood, Korey Arnold, Ben Lackey, Naomi Peterson and Nicole Paquette, 14 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Howard, daughter Nancy Mason, grandson Shad Lackey, siblings Tom Watson, Edward Watson, Ralph Watson, Ora Joseph, Mary Garren and Ruth Sweet.
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 13 at 1pm at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home with Reverend Richard McSherry officiating. The family will receive friends and family for a time of visitation on Monday from 11-1pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery .
