Brian Arthur Cardonnel, “my dearest big brother”, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 after a battle with COVID-19. He was born on August 20, 1962 to William and Roxana Cardonnel. He is survived by his mother Roxana, his sister Lucinda Smith and her husband Gary (Smitty) Smith, niece Shelby Clemo and her husband Andrew Clemo Sr, nephew James R Babcock, his only grandniece Rosalie Levine, his five grandnephews: Aidan Babcock; Keegan, Andrew Jr and baby Bruce William Clemo; and baby Elijah Holland;plus many cousins. He was predeceased by his father William Bruce Cardonnel. He also leaves behind his second family, his beautiful brothers and sisters of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Bennington, Vermont. Brian worked as a mechanic most of his life, being employed at Modern Aluminum Anodizing and by the Town of Pownal, Vermont. He also had a small engine repair shop - 3 B’s Small Engine Repair. Brian loved working on his old vehicles, small engines, and his garden. (Boy did he ever love his squash!) He often said that one of the happiest moments of his life was on October 27, 2019 when he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. As he had learned more and more about God – his name Jehovah and his promises found in the Bible – Brian made a complete change. He wanted to do all he could to please God and to help others to learn what he was learning. He would share his faith with all – family, friends, even total strangers – whether in a casual conversation or while he engaged in his ministry from door to door. He had found something of truly priceless value – a personal relationship with God. With this he also found his second family in the Christian Congregation. His faith helped him to endure many health issues. Even when he was in the hospital with COVID, his faith never wavered. Brian knew well and had absolute faith in God’s promise found in the Bible at Acts 24:15 – “There is going to be a resurrection.” He was sure of that promise and wanted everyone to know about it. (Brian wouldn’t forgive us if we didn’t mention jw.org. Please visit it for Brian to learn more about his hope from the Bible.) He had a lot of love and helped anybody that needed it. A close friend said, “A heart as big as the sky. I can’t think of a better way to describe Brian.” Brian will truly be missed. We anxiously await the time when his faith is rewarded and God’s promise of a resurrection is realized. Then we can be together again. There will be no in person calling hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be a funeral service streamed online on Saturday, May 22nd at 4pm, Anyone wishing to attend please call (802) 681-9079 prior to May 22nd for the link and instructions.
