Catherine M. Aragi, 62, of South Londonderry VT, passed away Saturday September 2, 2017 in the comfort of her home on Springhill Road, where she had been surrounded by her family and friends. Cathy was born in Bridgeport, CT on June 24, 1955 the daughter of Simon and Edna Gerard Aragi and grew up with her family in Brookfield, CT. She attended both Norwalk Community College and the University of Hartford. Cathy was a Real Estate Broker and owned her own Real Estate agency in Connecticut for many years. During her time in Connecticut she was actively involved in her community and headed up a project that built a children's playground in Brookfield, CT. After moving to Vermont in 2002 Cathy became involved in her new community and joined the Londonderry Volunteer Rescue Squad where she was an active member for 15 years and also served as a member of the Londonderry Select Board. Cathy also enjoyed the outdoors where she was a hunter, an avid hiker and skier and had a real green thumb when it came to gardening. She hunted out west in Montana and Wyoming and her love for hiking started after she hiked the Grand Canyon in her younger years. From there she hiked all over Vermont and many sections of the Appalachian Trail. Cathy loved to go skiing with her family especially with her granddaughter Jordyn, who she nicknamed Jordy Cakes. She shared her passion of the outdoors with Jordyn by taking her skiing, hiking and teaching her granddaughter a bit about gardening. Cathy never played team sports growing up, but encouraged her 2 girls to participate and after years of watching them play sports she decided it was time she played a team sport herself. She became a member of the Rusty Blades women's hockey team in Manchester and also played soccer on the women's league. Through the team activities Cathy herself raised thousands of dollars for the benefit of the Cancer Patient Support Program's Emergency Fund. She was an amazing and loving "gaga" (grandmother), mother, wife, daughter and sister. She was one who was always there when you needed her, regardless if you were family or not...
