Catherine Frances Foery

Catherine passed peacefully at her home at River's Edge Community Care in Bennington, VT with family at her side on September 5, 2018. She was born on July 23, 1922 in Yonkers, NY, the daughter of the late Frank and Katy (Nuccitelli) Mantelli. She attended Rochester, NY schools graduating from Charlotte High School in Rochester. Catherine volunteered for many organizations throughout the years including the library, the Greenfield Senior Center, and Hospice. She was a member of the Emblem Club and served as Eucharistic Minister traveling to nursing homes in Greenfield, MA, praying the rosary, and offering communion to the residents. She enjoyed practicing tai chi, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking and gardening, and was famous for her homemade raspberry jams and yogurt. She loved walking, hiking and traveling (especially to Italy and the Grand Canyon). She liked to dance and enjoyed listening to any music that had a beat. She cherished times spent with her family and friends. Catherine is survived by her children Mark Foery of Rochester, NY, Elaine Hester (and her husband Glen) of San Diego, CA, Mari Suzara of Charleston, SC, Bill Foery (and his wife Denise) of Searsburg, VT, sister Rosemary Mantelli of Rochester, NY, grandchildren Mitchell, Jacob, Francesco, Zoe, Brendan and Ethan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Foery, and brothers, Chuck and Tony Mantelli. At the request of the family there are no formal funeral services. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on September 15 at the Old Red Mill Inn, 18 N Main St, in Wilmington, VT. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on September 18 at Holy Cross Church, 4492 Lake Ave. In honor of Catherine, the family encourages and appreciates donations to the Catherine Foery Activity Fund at River's Edge to help support the residents to stay active and engaged in games and events that will contribute to their overall quality of life. Donations for the Fund may be made out to The River's Edge c/o the Catherine Foery Activity Fund, and mailed to 5 Hunt St, Bennington, VT 05201. The family has entrusted arrangements to the care of Covey-Allen & Shea Funeral Home 44 East Main Street Wilmington, VT. At the request of the family there are no formal funeral services.
