Cecile "Ce Ce"Bero, 99, died peacefully, Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Fairwinds Residential Center in North Bennington just 5 days short of her 100th birthday. Born in Gouverneur, New York, on March 9, 1915, she was the only child of Cecile (Popple) and James Boulet. She graduated from Gouverneur High School and Potsdam State Teacher's College in Potsdam, NY. Cecile taught English for many years at Clifton-Fine Central School in Star Lake, NY.She married Harold Bero on June 30, 1942. They were married for 58 years. After retirement, Cecile and Harold moved to Nokomis, Florida where they resided for many years. Cecile moved back north in October 2011 to be closer to family."Ce Ce", as she was called by her grandchildren, loved to sew, knit, and bake. She was also an avid reader. For years she did crossword puzzles every morning with her neighbor in Nokomis.Cecile is survived by her son James Bero and his wife Diane of Shaftsbury, six grandchildren, Michele Lewis and her husband Todd, Michael Bero and his wife Kelli, Peter Bero and his wife Mindy, Amanda Welch and her husband Darren, Samantha Larew and her husband Dave, and Nicole Bero, 5 great-grandchildren Max Lewis, Parker Bero, Dex Larew, Paige Bero and Levi Bero and several nieces and nephews. Cecile was predeceased by her husband Harold in 2001 and her son Martin Bero in 2011. We, as a family, would like to thank Fairwinds Residential Center who so wonderfully and lovingly cared for Ce Ce. Wanda "Vanna", you are truly an angel on earth. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family. Cecile loved all animals, so memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter in Shaftsbury, VT. There will be no calling hours.
