Chester L. Phillips, Sr.

Chester L. Phillips, Sr., 79, a resident of Peace Street passed away April 17, 2015 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Chet was born in Granville, New York on December 25, 1935 the son of Charles and Bertha (Kelly) Phillips and attended local school. Chet drove a school bus for Dorset Schools for over thirty years. Previous to that he worked on a farm and for J.K. Adams before owning and operating a gas station and grocery store. Chet was an avid hunter and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. He loved animals especially horses and Dalmatian dogs. He enjoyed listening to country and western music and cherished times spent with his family and friends. Chet is survived by his son Chester L. Phillips, Jr. and his wife Janet of North Bennington, step-daughter Cindy Coyne of Pownal, brother Donald Phillips and his wife Rosetta of Danby, sisters Mary Black and her husband Robert of Ashuelot, NH and Barbara Hollister of Bennington, grandchildren Jillian, Tabatha and Linda Phillips and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son James Phillips and brother Erwin Phillips. Funeral services for Chet will be held Wednesday April 22, 2015 at 12noon at Brewster & Shea Funeral Service 34 Park Place Manchester Center, Vermont. Interment will follow in the family lot in West Pawlet Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be one hour prior to the service from 11am-12noon. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Chet's memory may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, c/o Brewster & Shea Funeral Service P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, Vermont. Funeral services for Chet will be held Wednesday April 22, 2015 at 12noon at Brewster & Shea Funeral Service 34 Park Place Manchester Center, Vermont. Interment will follow in the family lot in West Pawlet Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be one hour prior to the service from 11am-12noon
