Christopher Hatch passed away at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center on September 23, 2018. He was born in New York City on December 17, 1926 to Leonard and Dorothy (Warrin) Hatch. He spent his early years in Old Greenwich, CT and graduated from Greenwich High School. He spent some time at the Norfolk Music School and studied piano and organ. He began college at Yale and transferred to Harvard, from which he graduated in 1949. Chris did graduate work at Columbia University where he went on to spend his career in the Music Department. For awhile he was the editor of the Musical Quarterly and he continued to edit and write reviews and articles on musicology for many years. He also edited several scholarly books and assisted former students with their writing for as long as he could. Retiring to Dorset, Vermont from New York City he enjoyed hiking and working in the garden. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Peter Hatch and sister-in-law Jane (Maddox) Hatch and survived by his wife of 65 years Lois (Leggett) Hatch, daughter Carol C. Hatch and son James C. Hatch. Following cremation his interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford, CT Following cremation his interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford, CT
