Clarice M. Bushee

Clarice M. Bushee, 87, a resident of Manchester, VT, passed away September 4, 2024. Clarice was born in Dorset, VT on January 22, 1937. She is the daughter of the late LeRoy and Dorothy (Roberts) McWayne. Clarice married her lifelong love, Richard E. Bushee on July 30, 1955. Together, they owned and operated Battenkill Dodge and raced harness horses at Saratoga Harness. Clarice would say, “There is nothing like having a winner in the winner’s circle”. Richard passed away on May 29, 1982. Clarice had a deep love of family, adored her children and was lovingly referred to by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as “Gram Cracker” and “Greatest Gram”. She enjoyed many cherished friends, of yesterday and today. She was known for sending cards to let everyone know they were thought of. Clarice was incredibly proud of her Green Mountain roots and maple producing family, three generations strong. Clarice also enjoyed horses, music, dancing, knitting, cooking and baking, bird watching, nature, word puzzles, enjoying her lap kitties and riding her horse, “Queenie” in her youth. Clarice is survived by her five children, Dorothy Durkee, Lee Bushee (Cheryl Baldwin), Donna Schellkopf (Mark), Robert Bushee (Jennifer Goodfellow) and Carolyn Guttroff (Robert). She is survived by grandchildren, Kim, Dan, Cassie, Cory, Rebecca, Kyle, and Stephanie, sister Kathy McWayne Goodell (Richard) and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services for Clarice will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 1:30 pm in Dellwood Cemetery in Manchester, VT. There are no visiting hours. Immediately following a “Celebration of Life” at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club in Manchester, VT.
