Clifford E. "Stoker" Tarbell , 65 a resident of Route 30 Pawlet, VT passed away on Monday March 19, 2018 in Rutland following a period of declining health. He was one of the twins born to Frank A. and Hazel (Burke) Tarbell on February 12, 1953 in Bennington. He went to school in Pawlet, Dorset and Burr and Burton. A truck driver throughout his life, he drove for Wm E. Dailey Concrete, Claude Dern, J&J Trucking and worked for the Town of Pawlet Highway Department for 14 years from which he retired. He enjoyed getting up early and going to tag sales and tinkering on snowmobiles and 4- wheelers, he and his twin brother Claude rebuilt a 1926 Model T. He obtained the nickname "Stoker" from his friends at the sugar house where he enjoyed stoking the fire. He leaves his brothers Cyrus Tarbell of Pawlet and Claude and his wife Phyllis Tarbell of Pawlet, a sister Betty Ann and husband Gerald White of Ferrisburgh and Florida, step brothers Walter Miller, and Lyman Dean, step sisters Wilma O'Neil, Beverly Keeler and Connie Bullock and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his two sisters Claudia and Joan and step mother Joyce Tarbell. Graveside services will be held in Pawlet in the spring. Special thanks to the Bayada Hospice team and the Mountain View Center Staff who worked together to ensure Clifford was comfortable in his last weeks. And to Dr Shapiro and the RRMC Staff who gave him compassionate care and ordered Chocolate Birthday cake for him as the first priority when he was in the ER on his birthday. Thank you ❤ï¸Â. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Brewster-Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 885, Manchester Center, VT 05255. Graveside services will be held in Pawlet in the spring.
