Concetta F. Busick of Wardsboro, VT died at Grace Cottage Hospital on January 9, 2017, following a short but hard-fought battle with cancer. Concetta was born in Baltimore, MD on January 7th, 1954 to parents Raymond K. and Concetta Vinci Miles. The second of five children, Concetta was known for her patience, quiet strength, and selflessness, which manifested early in her maternal devotion to her younger siblings and went on to shape her professional and family life. After earning her BS in Elementary Education from Towson University and her MS in Communicative Disorders from Johns Hopkins University, Concetta moved to the eastern shore of Maryland in 1980 and entered Maryland's public school system, teaching special education and reading for 25 years in Dorchester and Talbot counties. Cetta's grace in the classroom and her passion for helping others earned her the love and respect of students, teachers, and administrators alike. In 1980, Cetta married her college love, Robert (Bobby) Foxwell, who adopted her two infant sons from a previous marriage. Following Bobby's death in 1984, Cetta raised her family as a single mother until 1989 when she married William T. Busick, with whom she had a daughter. Cetta also became active in animal rights and rehabilitation at this time, adopting numerous "lost cause" dogs and devoting to them the same strength and love that served her so well in the classroom. She and Bill (and dogs) moved to Wardsboro, VT in 2009; there she taught reading and writing at Vermont Community College and also worked at Yankee Candle and at the Orvis Company flagship store until her death.Cetta's selflessness and spirit infused everyone she knew, but it was in her family life that they found their ultimate expression. Cetta's home was a place of love and magic, and none benefited from her strength and devotion more than her family. In no better place can this be seen than in the lives and careers of her children, all of whom have followed her example of teaching, training, and providing for others. In her family, and in many others, Cetta's grace and spirit live on.Concetta is survived by her mother Concetta V. Miles, her husband William T. Busick, her children R. Christopher Foxwell, Patrick D. Foxwell, and Carleen M. Busick, her siblings Raymond L. Miles, Robert J. Miles, Carolyn A. Miles, and Charles W. Miles, and her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. A private graveside service and interment will occur at Old Trinity Church in Church Creek, MD at a later date. In lieu of flowers, it was Cetta's wish that donations be made to the Second Chance Animal Center, 6779 VT-7A, Shaftsbury, VT, 05262. Cetta's family also wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Grace Cottage Family Health & Hospital in Townshend, VT.
