Conrad Frank Hykys, husband to Constance (DiGiacomo) Hykys, passed away at Albany Medical Center Hospital on July 6, 2018 at the age of 96. He was born to Konrad Hykys and Valantina (Dienstbier) Hykys, in Radnitz, Czechoslovakia on April 25, 1922. His family moved to Long Beach, NY in the late 1930s where he attended high school and met Constance, his future wife. Conrad joined the US Navy at the start of WWII, serving on a heavy cruiser in the Pacific, and at the military hospital at Pearl Harbor. He was honorably discharged after the war. Conrad was a 1947 graduate of St. John's University, College of Pharmacy. He entered into several pharmacy business partnerships with friends and family, finally owning and operating his own pharmacy in Island Park, NY. He moved the family to Manchester Center, VT in 1971 where he worked at Whipple's Pharmacy until his retirement. Conrad was a member of the Manchester Center Knights of Columbus and the Manchester Lions Club. He is survived by his wife; his 2 sons, Robert and Richard; his granddaughter Karen; and his 2 great grandchildren, Noah and Evangeline.
