Cora May (Robinson) Mattison, 97, a resident of Highland Avenue, passed away Friday February 20, 2015 at Equinox Terrace. Cora was born in Wallingford, Vermont on March 23, 1917 the daughter of George A. and Althere (Shippey) Robinson and attended local schools. Cora worked as a Postal Clerk in Wallingford and Maine for many years and she also worked for Orvis. Cora was the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church of Manchester where she was very active as Deaconess, Church Clerk, Church Collector and Sunday School Teacher. She was one of the first two woman Deaconess to serve communion. She was active in Mary and Martha (Ladies Fellowship) at Church a volunteer at Manchester Health Services Thrift Shop and in her earlier years helped make "Ditty" Bags during WWII. Cora is survived by her son George H. Mattison of Kent, Washington, grandchildren Matthew Wheeler Mattison of Portland, Oregon, Robert Perry Mattison of Carnsville, Georgia and Mark Nelson Mattison of Beaumont, California, great grandson Bryce Mattison of Graham, Washington a great-great grandchild and her niece Theresa Miner. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Mattison who died June 26, 1985, sister Celestia C. Robinson and sisters-in-law Beatrice Maher and Lois Mattison. Funeral services for Cora will be announced in the Spring.
