Daniel C. Collette Sr.

Daniel C. Collette Sr., 73, a resident of Bennington, Vermont passed away peacefully on March 10th 2024 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

He was born in North Adams, MA on March 16th, 1950 to the late Clayton and Lucille (Superneau) Collette. Daniel was raised in North Adams and attended local schools. On July 29th 1967, he married the former Sally Mears in Bennington, VT.

Daniel was employed by Photech for over twenty years before opening his own cleaning company. He enjoyed to spend his time by playing guitar and teaching his children and grandchildren how to play. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing. One of his favorite pastimes was to spend time in nature with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He could often be found at open mic night at Bounti Fare with David Nicholas. Daniel loved his children dearly and loved seeing his family grow.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sally Collette. His three sons; Dennis (Melissa) Collette, Dale (Stephanie) Collette, and Donald Collette, all of Bennington, VT and one daughter, Wanda Plawinski, of Bennington, VT. Daniel is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. One brother, Clayton “Buddy” (Emily) Collette Jr., and three sisters; Linda (Henry) Harrington, Carol (Mike) Kemp, and Marjorie (Glen) Sheldon, all of North Adams, MA. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Daniel was predeceased by his son, Daniel Collette Jr., and a sister, Holly Mitchell.

A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held at 2pm on March 16th, 2024 at Bounti Fare in Adams, MA. Family and friends are invited to come have a drink and to sing in memory of Dan. Food will be provided.
