David Hon

David S. Hon, 80, a resident of Sunderland, passed away April 10, 2017 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington. David was born in East Arlington, VT on July 26, 1936 the son of the late Commodore C. Hon, Sr. and Gladys M. Bentley and attended local schools. After leaving school, David enlisted in the United States Army where he served during WWII era in the Armored Division patrolling the Berlin Wall. Upon his discharge, David went to work for the Hale Company in East Arlington for 28 years as supervisor of Maintenance. David was a life member of Harned-Fowler VFW Post 6441 in Manchester, enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and camping. He drove the bus for the Yankee Doodlers Band and was a chaperone on Boy Scout camping trips with his children. David is survived by his wife Judith Hon of Sunderland, whom he married in Bennington on August 16, 1957, sons Donald Hon (Lisa) of North Carolina, Charles Hon of Connecticut, daughter Debbie Hon of West Virginia, grandchildren Charles, Jr., Jessica, David and Christina and great grandchildren Kaius and Maddox. He was preceded in death by his brother Commodore C. Hon, Jr and sister Gertrude (Trudy) Harrington. Funeral services for David will be held Friday April 14, 2017 at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home Arlington Chapel Historic Route 7A Arlington, VT at 2pm. Interment will be private. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Friday April 14, 2017 from 1-2pm, one hour prior to the service.
