David E. Potvin, 74, passed away Wednesday June 7, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. David was born in Whitinsville, Massachusetts on April 17, 1949, the son of the late Joseph and Jennie (Rutana) Potvin. He graduated from Northbridge High School and attended Worcester Junior College and Worcester State College. David started his career as an engineer at RCA, later working for Whitin Machine Works. His job at Bijur Manufacturing Co brought him to Bennington, where he later worked for Nastech before becoming a consultant. David enjoyed hunting with his son and golfing with his daughter. As a young man, David played accordion in various polka bands and was very proud of his Polish heritage. He travelled all over the world for work and especially enjoyed his time in Japan. He also enjoyed listening to country-western music and was an avid Boston sports fan. David became a friend of Bill W, where through their supportive community he met his wife Janet Groom, with whom he spent his last very happy years, and whom he married June 23, 2022 in Bennington. He is survived by his loving wife Janet, his children Steven Potvin (Caitlin Shea) of Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Diane Mimmo (Peter) of Hopkinton, Massachusetts and his grandchildren Andrew and Owen Mimmo. He was preceded in death by his brother James. A celebration of life for David will be held Saturday June 17 at 2pm at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT.
