David Glenn Stevens

December 6, 1947 — February 28, 2025

David Glenn Stevens, born on December 6, 1947, in Brattleboro, Vermont, passed away unexpectedly following an eight year battle with Parkinson’s disease on February 28, 2025, in the comfort of his home in South Londonderry, Vermont. He was 77 years old.

David’s entrance into the world was nothing short of an adventure—his father, Jack, drove off the road during a wild snowstorm while rushing his mother, Shirley, to the hospital. Forced to hitchhike the rest of the way, Jack made it just in time for David’s arrival, setting the stage for the wild and adventurous spirit that would define his life.

David grew up alongside his brother, Doug, and graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary in 1967. His career was as colorful as his personality—he worked as a snowmaker for Omichron, creating winter magic for Hollywood films like Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Home Alone 2, Baby Boom, Funny Farm and Snow falling on Cedars . One of his most legendary moments was in 1991, when he drove a vintage convertible fire truck from Vermont to Central Park in December to make snow for Home Alone 2. Later, he owned and operated Brooks & Stevens Professional Painting with his longtime business partner and friend, Alfie Brooks, working until his retirement.

David was devoted to his family, a loving husband to Margaret and a proud father to his daughters, Bekah and Holly. His greatest joy was his grandchildren—Maeve, Caleb, Alexia, and Brittani—who adored their “Papa.”

David spent his entire life on the “Stevens compound,” a tight-knit family home where he lived alongside his brother Doug, sister-in-law Bonnie, nephew Mark and his wife Sarah Stevens, niece Erica and her husband Matt Scott, and their children. Together, they formed a family unit that took close care of one another. In recent years, he also cherished his time in Utah visiting his daughter Bekah—adventuring through the mountains on hikes, snowmobiles and snowcats. Lending a hand as she built her first home, and, most importantly, getting to know his granddaughter Maeve over the past three years.

A true outdoorsman, David found happiness in the saddle of a motorcycle, on the back of a polo horse, or deep in the woods on a hunting trip. He had a mischievous streak that added more than a few grey hairs to his parents’ heads and plenty of laughter to those lucky enough to know him. His heart was as big as his sense of humor—he was incredibly proud of his involvement in AA, opening his home to those on their sobriety journey and offering them a safe place to recover.

David will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, and the way he connected with people—genuinely, wholeheartedly, and without pretense. He was a storyteller, a kind soul, and a man who loved deeply. His legacy lives on in the laughter, memories, and love he left behind.

A celebration of life will be held on May 31st at 1pm at the First  Baptist Church, South Londonderry VT, 62 Crescent St, South Londonderry, VT 05155.

David, Dad, Dedo, Papa—you will live on forever in our hearts, our memories, our laughter, and through our tears. We love you wicked.
