Doctor Ronald William Pero

Doctor Ronald William Pero, son of William and Alice Pero, born in Bennington, VT, May 8, 1940, resident of Sandgate, VT, passed peacefully in his home, Thursday, January 24, 2019. Ron's love for the woods and streams of Sunderland and surround sparked a successful national and international academic scientific career. Arlington High, UVM, URI lead him to work at NIH, N.C, University of Lund, Sweden, PMI Strang Clinic NY with many international research connections. A prolific scientific researcher, world renowned DNA repair expert, he also formed two biotech companies. In his later years he returned to the woods of Vermont. While pursuing his scientific efforts on his mountain top in Sandgate he spent time hunting and fishing, writing books and generously sharing his love and respect for nature with his ever growing international family. We, his wife, children, grandchildren, sister, extended families and close friends will miss him endlessly. A celebration of Ron's life will be held near his birthday in May.
