Donald Morris Burd, 89, of Manchester, VT, formerly of Bernardsville, NJ passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2023. Don was a graduate of Lafayette College, began his career working for the Federal Reserve Bank and served 2 years in the US Army. He later was a principal in the bank consulting practice at Peat, Marwick & Mitchell and ended his career working at Bankers Trust. Upon retirement, Don and his wife, Nancy Piper Burd, bought, renovated and operated The Inn at Ormsby Hill in Manchester for several years. He was also a 25-year volunteer docent at Hildene, Robert Todd Lincoln’s historic home. Don was a “people person” who was a leader in his living communities, the ultimate host and a great listener. In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his daughter, Wendy Harrington (Mike) of Wexford, PA; two sons, Peter (Jane) of Byfield, MA and Christopher (Rebecca) of Portland, OR; three grandchildren, Michael (Marissa), Elizabeth (Christian Sirney), and Kelley Harrington; and three great grandchildren, Layla and Michael Harrington and Piper Sirney. A celebration of Don’s life will be held in May in Vermont.
