Douglas Shaw Robinson

March 1, 1956 — July 15, 2024

Douglas Shaw Robinson of Whitingham VT July 15, 2024. Born in Springfield, MA, March 1, 1956, to the late Barbara and Douglas Robinson. He served his country USAF. He graduated from Westfield State College with a degree in psychology.  Doug worked with developmentally disabled adults. He more recently worked as a courier of people; getting them to & from appointments.  He passed exactly as he lived, celebrating  a recent red sox win, an old western movie, and the gorgeous view of nature from his living room in Vermont. Dougie fought various health issues over the years, all the while steadfast with hope and maintaining that unique Robinson sense of humor. If you know, you know.  Doug's siblings called him "Woogie."  He was affectionately known as "Dougie Bear" by his dear life partner, Gail Karol, who predeceased him by 22 days. Doug enjoyed Boston sports, especially the Red Sox. He loved fishing, beaches, playing pool, and darts. He was gifted at grilling steaks and enjoyed a cold beer or shot of crown royal. Surviving Doug are his siblings, Donald Robinson, Diane Blankenship, and Deborah Montagna, a 6 pack of nieces and nephews, and his dog, Mookie. Doug's family would like to thank his friends, Tanner and Suzanne, for their unlimited kindness. And Bayada Hospice for their assistance in his final days. Per Doug's wishes, the family will celebrate Doug's life privately with an upbeat, happy ceremony, including the music of Harry Chapin and Jim Croce. On a sunny day in the fall, his ashes will become a part of his favorite fishing spot in Vermont.
Memorial contributions in Doug's name can be made to Animal Care Sanctuary, 353 Sanctuary Hill Rd., E. Smithfield, PA 18817, or to any local animal shelter.
