Edmund Stirn Garcia

Edmund Stirn Garcia passed away on February 22, 2023 in Manchester Center, Vermont. He was born March 17th, 1926, on Staten Island to Alvaro and Gertrude Garcia. Ed attended Staten Island Academy where he later served as a Trustee. He earned an undergraduate degree from Colgate University and an MBA from Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. Ed worked in the family cigar business, Garcia & Vega, until the company was sold, and then moved into real estate on Staten Island. In 2000, he and his wife moved to Green Pond, NJ where the Garcia and Foss families have spent summers for many generations.

Ed is predeceased by his wife, Alice Foss Garcia (1930-2011) and survived by his children Alvaro Garcia of Cooperstown, NY, Elisabeth Seeley of Vaud, Switzerland, Emilie Jelicks of Staten Island, NY and Nina Cuny of Green Pond, NJ. He adored his seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Ed is survived by his sister, Emilia Garcia Carlson who is 101. He was also survived by his partner Joan Beggs of Manchester Center Vermont who passed away on March 1, 2023.

Ed/Pop/Pop Pop will always be remembered as a kind, caring and loving father, family member, friend and neighbor. His sense of humor stayed with him always.
