Edward G. Bacon Sr., 87, a resident of Arlington, Vermont passed away on July 13th, 2024 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
He was born in Sunderland, VT on June 9th, 1937 to the late Gertrude Reynolds and Roland Bacon. Edward grew up attending local schools before leaving school to work for Morse Block Company.
He was employed for 20 years with Johnson Fuel where he was a truck driver. Edward was also employed at Mack Molding and Hale Company. For five years, he owned and operated E&D Haulers, a garbage business that served the Arlington community.
On February 20th, 1971, he married Dale Best at the Dorset Church. They were married for 53 years.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons at camp, riding motorcycles and spending time with his grandchildren.
Edward is survived by his wife Dale Bacon, of Arlington, VT. His two sons, Michael Bacon (Heidi) and Edward Bacon Jr. (Danielle), both of Hoosick Falls, NY. Two brothers, Bernard Bacon (Emma), of Pownal, VT and Philip Bacon (Ginny), of Sunderland, VT. Two sisters, Marilyn Mcenney, of Florida and Lucille Morse, of Sunderland, VT. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Rustin Dolan, Taylor Bacon (Megan), Brett Bacon and Riley Bacon, and one great granddaughter, Avery.
Edward was predeceased by his brother, James Bacon and a granddaughter, Rachel.
A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 20th, 2024 at Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington, VT. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post 69, in Arlington, VT.
