Edward Henry "Hank" Moffitt Jr

Edward Henry "Hank" Moffitt Jr. 83, of Manchester Center, passed away on November 17, 2016 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center from multiple medical problems.He was born August 10, 1933 to Edward and Hazel (Read) Moffitt. He was raised and educated in the Dorset area.He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Salem, a heavy cruiser patrolling the Mediterranean Sea from 1955 to 1957. Recently he and his family celebrated his birthday, traveling to Quincy, Ma. where the ship has been refurbished and serves as a museum.He worked over 40 years for the W. E. Daily Company of Shaftsbury and Manchester as a concrete mixer driver until his retirement. During his retirement he worked as a Rutland Herald delivery driver and landfill station attendant for the Town of Mount Tabor. He enjoyed spending time with his family, driving the back roads of Vermont during the very earlier morning hours, watching wildlife, dining out, hunting, fishing, vacationing in Maine and watching NASCAR.He is survived by his wife Hazel (Davis) Hale of 40 years, stepsons, Bradley GoodHale & Donna of Rutland, and Gregory Hale & Terry of Wallingford. Four grandchildren Caitlyn, Richard, Rachel, and Renae. As well as 4 step grandchildren and their spouses/friends and 7 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also by brother Darrell Moffitt of Wells, Vt. And sister Alice Shattuck of NC. He was predeceased by brothers Cyrus and Eugene and sisters Winifred, Ruth and Mary.A Memorial service will be held at the Brewster/Shea Funeral Home in Manchester VT on Sunday November 27th at 2pm. A private family burial will take place at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Chester, Vt.Donations in his memory can be made to the Foley Cancer Center at Rutland Regional Medical Center c/o Brewster/Shea Funeral Home PO Box 885, Manchester Ctr, Vt. 05255. A Memorial service will be held at the Brewster/Shea Funeral Home in Manchester VT on Sunday November 27th at 2pm. A private family burial will take place at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Chester, Vt.
