Edward Legacy Jr.

Edward Legacy Jr., a resident of North Road, passed away April 12, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. Edward was born in Bennington on March 17, 1943 the son of the late Edward and Gertrude (Bishop) Legacy, Sr. He attended Arlington schools, graduating from Arlington Memorial High School. Ed worked as a cement mixer driver for William E. Dailey for many years and then for the Shaftsbury Landfill for several years. Ed was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, enjoyed hunting, making homemade wooden furniture, following NASCAR, watching old western movies, especially John Wayne and playing cards. He cherished times spent with his family and was known for his famous Sunday morning breakfasts. Ed is survived by his wife of 59 years Virginia (Morse) Legacy of Shaftsbury whom he married October 20, 1962 at the Federated Church of East Arlington, his daughter Ginny Lee Treasure (Manix) of Bennington, his sons Edward Legacy (Rachel) of Shaftsbury and Christopher Legacy (Heather) of Arlington, his grandchildren Kyle and Lauren Legacy, Zach and Nick Matteson and Logan Legacy and great grandchildren Mason, Ryan, Collin, Leo, Khloe, Braiden and Riley. He was preceded in death by his brothers George and Jimmy Legacy and sister Lorraine Strohmaier. Funeral services for Edward will be held Saturday April 16, 2022 at 11am at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home Arlington Chapel Historic Route 7A Arlington, VT. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington. A visiting hour will be held at the funeral home from 10-11am, one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow the internment at the Bailey Hall in East Arlington.
