Elex Johnson

Elex Johnson, 83, longtime property maintenance business owner, passed away October 2, 2022 at home. Elex was born in Nesbitt, Mississippi on March 17, 1939 the son of the late Frank and Lucy Jean Williams Johnson and attended local schools. Elex worked for the Scudder family as chauffer and body guard for many years. He owned and operated the Lehigh Gas Station with his brother Maurice in Manchester and then owned and operated Elex Johnson and Sons Landscaping for over 30 years. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, loved to dance and spend time gardening, travelling, eating out and cherished times spent with his family and friends. Elex is survived by his wife Nancy Durden Johnson of Manchester, brother George Lee Johnson of Key Largo, FL, and Freddie Johnson, sisters Lucy Jean Johnson Hainds and Sarah Johnson of Nesbitt and Mildred Johnson Williams of Detroit, MI and grandchildren Elijah and Alexander Johnson. He was preceded in death by his son Alexander Johnson and siblings Maurice, Frank, Fred, Willie, Lawrence and Theodore Johnson and Octavia and Mary Johnson. A celebration of life for Elex will be held Tuesday October 25, 2022 at 2pm at the First Baptist Church in Manchester. Visiting hours will be held Monday evening October 24, 2022 from 5-7pm at Brewster-Shea Funeral Home 34 Park Place Manchester Center, VT.
