Elizabeth (Betty) Flatley passed away April 20th after a long and wonderful Life. Born October, 1923 to Virginia Sperry and Wilder Breckenridge in Cranford N.J.. Betty and her sister Jane, were raised in Paris until the crash of 1929 when they returned to New York City. She attended Edgewood School in Greenwich Connecticut. Betty met and married her boss, Stanley Howard Flatley in February 1943 promising at the time to "love and honor but never to have children". Within 12 years she had 5 boisterous kids, Michael Warren, Wendy (Ronald) Dobias, S.Lawrence/Larry (Nira)Flatley, Leslie (Steve) Jones and David (Lauri) Flatley who kept her on the run. Betty never worked a day in her life outside the home. She was a veracious reader and dedicated golfer. She was well versed on many subjects and especially enjoyed brushing up on the latest medical journals. Betty and Stan raised their family in Tarrytown, New York and later moved to Dorset, Vermont in 1972. Upon Stanley's retirement, they split their time between Vermont, Tequesta, Florida and Asheville, N.C. Betty is predeceased by her husband, Stan, of 71 years, son, Michael and sister, Jane Madigan, formerly of Tequesta, FL. She has 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her Sense of Style, Gift of Entertaining, Dedication to Propriety and Sage Counsel. As per her request, there will be no service. Friends are invited to a memorial gathering to share in their memories on May 19th, 5:00 at the Dorset Field Club. As per her request, there will be no service.
