Elizabeth Jane Mcgowan

Elizabeth Jane McGowan,82, a resident of Short Street, passed away November 8, 2018 at Crescent Manor Nursing Home in Bennington. Elizabeth was born in Albany, NY on July 29, 1936 the daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth (Gladstone) McGowan. She attended Albany, NY Public Schools and college in New York City. Elizabeth was a Postmaster for the United States Postal Service for nearly 30 years. She loved to dance and was a former professional dancer at Carnegie Hall. She was a huge advocate for animal rites, the environment and social justice. She loved to listen to jazz and rock and roll music and was an avid New York Yankee fan. Elizabeth is survived by her son Gregg McGowan and his wife Bonnie of Bennington and grandchildren Cheyenne and Dakota McGowan. At the request of the family there are no formal funeral services.
