Elizabeth Moffitt Mattison, 84 years of age, formally of Shaftsbury, passed away peacefully on March 16,2018. Elizabeth was born on November 2, 1933 on Harwood Hill, in Bennington VT to the late Blanche Elwell Durverney and Paul Moffitt. She was one of eight siblings, whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her brothers, Kenneth, Frederick, Edward, Gerald, Dwight, and a sister Paula. She has a surviving brother, Thomas Mooney. Elizabeth had a special bond with all of her sister in laws as well. Elizabeth married and had three children with the late Andrew Mattison; Keith and wife Deb Mattison of Cranston RI, Michael Mattison of Bennington, Vt and Andrea and special son in law Joe Hunt of Shaftsbury, VT. Elizabeth was also pre-deceased by a special man in her life, Albert "Rupe" Dean. She leaves behind three special grand daughters Ashley Mattison-Todd, Jessica Mattison and Aubrey Davis. She cherished all of her extended family and friends and leaves a host of special nieces and nephews as well. Elizabeth had a strong faith and was a member of the Shaftsbury Methodist Church and a devoted worker of Stanley Tools, from where she retired. She will be fondly remembered for her willingness to help others, her unconditional love, her singing and dancing and her witty sense of humor. Elizabeth loved reading, nature, spending time at family camps, genealogy and was very proud of her Scottish and Irish heritage. A post gathering release of ashes will take place at Elizabeth's childhood homestead on Harwood Hill.
