Elizabeth "Rozey" Brown a lifelong resident of East Dover passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday August 19, 2015 surrounded by her loving family, she was 80 years old. The daughter of Clyde W. and Olive (Gale) Jones she was born in Williamsville on July 16, 1935. She grew up on the family farm - Fairview Farm and attended schools in East Dover, she was a 1951 graduate of Brattleboro High School. Rozey married Erwin "Sonny" Brown at the East Dover Baptist Church on October 17, 1954. She had worked as a secretary most of her life first at the Hoffman Insurance Agency in Brattleboro, the Windham Regional Supervisory Union and for her son Jeff. Rozey had also worked at the Dover School and drove the schools bus , she became a second mom to many of the children at the school. Rozey was very civic minded and volunteered for many positions in Dover including serving on the Select Board, School Board, Dover Historical Society and was a Town Lister for many years. She was an EMT with the East Dover Fire Department where she served as Treasurer. She and Sonny enjoyed participating and attending many horse pulling events where she would be the announcer for the days activities. Rozey was an avid reader, a prolific poetry writer, a great story teller, enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles and just loved to talk. She leaves her husband Sonny of 60 years, sons Jeffrey Brown and wife Lori of East Dover, Daniel Brown of East Dover, daughter Gayle Woodcock of South Newfane, granddaughters Lindsey Brown and husband David Rosso of Greenwich, CT and Jodi Brown of East Dover, Chuck Clark of Guilford whom she considered her fifth son, brother Paul L. Jones of Virginia, former son in law Bruce Woodcock as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, brother/sister-in laws, and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by sons James Brown in 1977 and David Brown in 1976.Funeral services for Rozey will be held at The Fairview Farm , 25 Jockey Hollow Road in East Dover on Saturday August 29 at 11am. Burial will follow immediately at the Williamsville New Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Following the cemetery services the family invites everyone to join them at the farm for a memorial reception. Memorial gifts may be made to the Grace Cottage Hospital, Dover Historical Society or American Cancer Society in care of the Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, VT 05363. Funeral services for Rozey will be held at The Fairview Farm , 25 Jockey Hollow Road in East Dover on Saturday August 29 at 11am. Burial will follow immediately at the Williamsville New Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Following the cemetery services the family invites everyone to join them at the farm for a memorial reception.
