Emil G. Gress

Emil G. Gress, 90, a resident of East Rupert, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015. He was born in Zurich, Switzerland on December 19, 1924, the son of the late Emil and Emma Gress. He moved to the United States in 1945 working as an accountant in New York City before transitioning to the textile industry, owning and operating Gress Fabrics. In the late 1950's Emil discovered Vermont and embraced the land and all it offered. He loved to entertain and cherished time with his family. Emil leaves behind his children, Barbara Weiss and her husband Kenneth, and Catherine Bock, and his grandchildren Christopher and Timothy Bock. He was preceded in death by his wife Natalie. Funeral services will be held Saturday February 7, 2015 at 11:30am at Zion Episcopal Church in Manchester Center, Vermont. There are no visiting hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital or Second Chance Animal Shelter, Shaftsbury, VT.
