Florence R. “Midge” Jones

Florence R. “Midge” Jones 92 a resident of Route 346 passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday morning March 12, 2020 in the company of her loving family. Mrs. Jones was born in White Creek, New York on January 13, 1928 , she attended local schools including Hoosick Falls High School. She married Carl Thomas Jones Jr. in Pownal in 1972. Mrs. Jones began working at the Pownal Tannery at the age of 16, she then worked at Sprague Electric for 13 years and retired from the former Union Carbide after 20 years there. She loved listening to “Cowboy” music, watching the birds and wildlife in her backyard , nurturing and growing many different types of plants and going to tag sales. She leaves her husband Carl Thomas Jones Jr. of North Pownal, step children Chrystal Moffitt of Arlington, Sherrie Jones of Naples, FL and Patrick Jones of Bennington, nephew Doug Wilcox and his girlfriend Lynn Vallie of Bennington, son in law Stanley Kimball of Pownal, granddaughter Kelly Rich , great granddaughter Abiageal Tiedemann, special neighbors Darcie and Shannon Pruden, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother Ella Gates, son Roger Wilcox, daughter Pamela Kimball , brothers her twin Forrest Ralph Young, John Young, James Young and Roland Young and her sister Bertha Pierce. Services will be held at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home on March 19, 2020 at 6pm, calling hours will precede the service from 4-6 on March 19, 2020 when the family will be present. Burial will take place at a later date in North Pownal Cemetery. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date and will be announced when scheduled. Mrs. Jones was grateful for the care that she received from the staff of VNA and Hospice of Southwestern Vermont.
