Francis Reed, Sr.

Francis X. Reed, Sr., a resident of Edward Isham Drive, passed away Sunday January 22, 2017 at Bennington Health & Rehabilitation Center. Frank was born in New York City on May 8, 1924 the son of the late Henry J. and Theresa (Baumann) Reed. He received his education in New York City schools up until High School. He earned his Bachelor Degree from Hofstra University and his Masters and Doctorate Degrees from Rutgers University and for many years enjoyed a career in banking. Frank served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII, serving in the Pacific. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Manchester Golf Course. He enjoyed oil painting, a good game of poker, target shooting and going to lunch and dinner with the guys. He is survived by his son Francis X. Reed, Jr. and his wife Gale of Medford, NJ, daughter-in-law Linda Keifer and her husband Lloyd of Clifton Park, NY and grandchildren Francis X. Reed, III, Liette L. Kelly and Jonathan and Jeffrey Reed. He was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude who died April 17, 2011, son Clifford Reed who died in 1986, brother Henry J. Reed. Jr. and sister Millicent Baumann. A mass of christian death and burial will be celebrated Saturday morning January 28, 2017 at 10am at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church (Christ Our Savior Parish), 398 Bonnet Street in Manchester. Interment will be held in the family lot in St. Agnes Cemetery 48 Cemetery Ave. Menands, NY. Visiting hours will be held Friday evening January 27, 2017 from 5-7pm at Brewster-Shea Funeral Home 34 Park Place Manchester Center, VT. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Frank's memory may be made to Bennington Health & Rehabilitation Center Activities Department, c/o Brewster-Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, VT 05255.
