Fred William Dieffenbach

Fred William Dieffenbach IV, 88, of Manchester, Vt, died, Friday January 14, 2022. He was born on May 7, 1933 in New York City, graduated from The Hotchkiss School in 1952, and attended the University of North Carolina. During his working life, Fred was a sales representative for a number of companies, including the C.V. Mosby Publishing Company, Sherago Associates, Eaton Publishing, and most recently for the Manchester-and-the-Mountains Chamber of Commerce. He travelled extensively during his career, and forged many lasting friendships. Locally, he was a long-time member of the Dorset Field Club as well as a number of other organizations. Throughout his life, Fred maintained a diverse range of close friendships with people with whom he worked, knew from his days growing up in Northern New Jersey and southern New York, as well as many individuals from the Manchester-Dorset community. If you knew Fred, you know that he had a knack for making otherwise mundane events memorable. Fred was an avid golfer, an accomplished swimmer, and a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox. He is survived by his son Fred W. Dieffenbach, daughter-in-law Felicia, and grandchildren Mikayla and Anna; pre-deceased by daughter Stacey, brother Theodore, and sister Valerie; and survived by his brothers Richard and Jeff, sister-in-law Dayle, brother-in-law Zay, and three nephews and five nieces. In lieu of a funeral, a celebration of life is planned for later this year. Donations may be made in memory of Fred to the Dorset Equine Rescue, P.O.
