Fred L Towslee, Jr

Mr. Fred L. Towslee, Jr., a longtime resident of Harbour Road in Woodford passed away unexpectedly on Thursday evening March 23, 2023 at the Albany (NY) Medical Center at the age of 90. The son of Fred L. and Myrtle (Mattison) Towslee , Fred was born in Pownal on December 15, 1932. He attended Pownal Center School and graduated from Bennington High School, Class of 1951, while in high school he ran on the track team. Fred was a Korean Army Veteran serving from 1953 until his discharge as Staff Sargent in 1956 , he was assigned as a transportation specialist , this led to a lifelong career in the transportation industry. Fred drove tractor trailer tanker trucks for Cargill and heavy equipment operator for John Patterson. He also worked for Queen City Transport (this became Merrill Transport). For many years he operated a sawmill on his property supplying lumber for family and friends. He was a member of the Bennington Elks Lodge # 567 and American Legion Post 13 . Fred was an avid hunter who enjoyed the season being with friends and family. He leaves his wife Ann (Crosier) Towslee whom he married in 1956 in Hoosick Falls, NY, they had their marriage blessed at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington on August 30, 1956, his children Melissa Barnard and her husband Ron of Bennington, Jodi Albowicz and her husband Ray of Bennington, Terrie Onorato and Gary Racicot of Woodford, Fred W. Towslee and his wife Tracy of Woodford, John Towslee and his wife Deborah of Bennington and Joseph Towslee and his partner Todd Cusumano of Ft. Worth, Florida, grandchildren Brennon, Brooke, Annie, Connor, Che, Shawna and Calli, great grandchildren Allie Mae, Ava, Adalynn and Charlie. Fred was predeceased by his siblings Frances Streeter, Virginia Pratt, Billy Towslee and Donna Smith. Private services with Military Honors will be held at the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
