Fredric W. Smith, 68, a resident of Simonds Road in Williamstown, MA, passed away Friday March 4, 2016 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington surrounded by his family. Fredric was born in Brookline, MA on December 15, 1947 the son of the late Raymond and Mae (Howard) Smith and received his education in Leominster, MA schools. In his earlier years, Fredric was a cross country truck driver and then became owner and operator of New England Wash and Polish for over twenty years. Fredric was an Army veteran of the Viet Nam era, was a member of American Legion Post 13 in Bennington and also in Williamstown, the Vermont National Guard in Bennington, a member of the Mt Anthony Masonic Lodge in Bennington and the Berkshire Model Railroad Club. He enjoyed building model railroads, snowmobiling, boating and sailing, gardening, traveling to the shore especially Cape Cod, Maine, Rhode Island and Nova Scotia. He enjoyed listening to classic rock and country music, and spending time with his family. Fredric is survived by his wife Valerie Sacco of Williamstown, daughter Tori of Burlington, VT and many extended friends and family in Maine. Funeral services for Fredric will be held Wednesday afternoon March 9, 1026 at 2pm at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT. Interment will be private. A visiting hour will be held at the funeral home from 1-2pm. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Fredric's memory may be made to the Fisher House, c/o Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 957 Bennington, VT 05201 FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services for Fredric will be held Wednesday afternoon March 9, 1026 at 2pm at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT. Interment will be private. A visiting hour will be held at the funeral home from 1-2pm.
