Gene "Hank" C. Davis

Gene "Hank" C. Davis, 87, a resident of Route 9, passed away Friday December 11, 2015 at his home. Hank was born in Wilmington on July 4, 1928 the son of the late Lawrence and Annette (Howard) Davis and attended local schools. Gene enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge from the armed forces Hank went to work in the lumber industry, working for Lincoln Haynes for many years and later retiring from Vermont Barn Board in Wilmington. Hank enjoyed woodworking in his spare time and loved hunting and fishing with his brothers, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed listening to traditional country music, going to Maine and loved being at home and spending time with his family. Hank is survived by his wife the former Ruth Akley whom he married in Wilmington on September 8, 1950, son Larry Davis and his wife Karen of Wilmington, daughters Wanda Davis of West Wardsboro, Karen Farquhar and her husband Douglas of Brattleboro and Carol Lewis and her husband Paul of Wilmington, brothers George Davis and his wife Virginia of Wilmington and Michael Davis and his wife Jill of Hyannis, Massachusetts, eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Sullivan. Visiting hours will be held Friday December 18, 2015 from 5-7pm at Covey-Allen & Shea Funeral Home 44 East Main Street Wilmington, Vermont. Following cremation graveside funeral services with military honors will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 at 11am at Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington.
